SANTA MONICA WEDDING, THE VICTORIAN

GIGI AND MATT

Within the first few minutes of meeting Matt and Gigi, I knew I had to be their wedding photographer. They were so exuberant when discussing their ideas and the excitement was contagious.

They had limited time to create their vendor list and timeline, as Gigi was working on achieving a doctorate in public health. Matt is an engineer in the auto industry, also working long hours. Needless to say, they wanted trustworthy vendors who were great at their jobs and wouldn’t require too much time from them before the wedding. They chose Kimberly at Tenth Street Events for same day coordination services, who did a fabulous job! Vendors need someone like her behind the scenes, managing the details and making sure the timeline runs smoothly.

The day started with a private Chinese tea ceremony then the couple wad whisked away in a 1958 Rolls Royce to the venue.

The Victorian was a perfect location in so many ways. It’s located in the heart of Santa Monica, just a short walk to the beach, directly across the lawn from the California Heritage Museum.

This late nineteenth century, two-story building was built in 1892 and has been transplanted from its original location. Surrounded by oak trees and blooming flowers, it creates a classic, antique backdrop for a visually stunning wedding. For sweetheart shots, we walked to two different wall murals and the Santa Monica Library.

The Bloemist was the florist and wow! She created a saturated yet minimal palette utilizing purple and light blue hydrangea, baby’s breath, fern, tulip, purple kale and dark purple stock, which complimented the vintage charm of the interiors.

After the ceremony, the couple hosted dinner on the first floor, followed by the reception on the second floor, which opens onto a breezy, large patio with outdoor seating. Open bars with signature drinks were held on both floors, allowing guests to roam and socialize at their leisure. After speeches and boquet-tossing, the couple partied late into the night, well after I left! It was a truly beautiful, lively, and loving group of guests who will support Gigi and Matt throughout their bright future. Cheers to them!
